When the night starts
Dubai runs late. Dinner is often 8–10pm, clubs fill up around midnight, and the best sets land between 1am and 3am. Rooftops and lounges open earlier — great for sunset — while superclubs and day-to-night parties peak much later.
The weekend is Friday and Saturday. Thursday night is the unofficial start of the weekend and is busy across the city.
Dress code
Most clubs and upscale lounges enforce a smart dress code: collared shirts or a smart tee, proper shoes (no flip-flops or sportswear), and elegant outfits for ladies. Beach clubs are relaxed by day and dressier at night.
When in doubt, dress up — it's rarely a problem to be over-dressed in Dubai, and it makes entry and table service much smoother.
ID, age and alcohol
The legal drinking age is 21, and venues will ask for ID — carry a physical passport or Emirates ID. Alcohol is served in licensed venues (hotels, clubs, licensed restaurants), which is where nightlife happens.
Be respectful in public, arrange your ride home in advance, and never drink and drive — Dubai has a zero-tolerance policy.
Tables, guest lists and tickets
For big nights, a table with bottle service guarantees entry and a spot — book ahead, especially for headline DJs. Guest lists and advance tickets are the budget-friendly route and also skip the door queue.
