Swan Lake on Ice in Dubai

About this event

Swan Lake on Ice in Dubai Presented by Dubai Opera. The timeless story of Swan Lake takes on a new form as classical ballet meets ice skating at Dubai Opera. On a specially created ice rink, Tchaikovsky’s celebrated work unfolds through sweeping skating, theatrical choreography, dramatic lifts, and a visual world built around movement. The Imperial Ice Stars bring together 24 accomplished skaters whose careers collectively span more than 250 Olympic, World, European, and National Championship medals. Their technical skill drives the performance, from intricate ensemble sequences and aerial movement to elements inspired by contemporary circus. At its heart remains the familiar story of Odette, Prince Siegfried, and Rothbart, accompanied by a fresh interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s renowned score. Rather than recreating a traditional ballet on ice, the production uses the speed, scale, and physical possibilities of figure skating to reveal the story from a different perspective. Snowfall, atmospheric fog, pyrotechnic effects, and detailed costumes transform the stage around the skaters, adding scale and atmosphere while keeping the story at the centre. At Dubai Opera, Swan Lake on Ice offers the chance to experience a familiar masterpiece in an entirely different way, bringing classical music, skating, choreography, and stagecraft together in one live performance.
